MJ Feeds the Hungry

In Manila, Mark Jimenez is regarded by many poor people as a saint, a savior, or the nation’s next president. He gave concrete example of what a Christian should be.

Millions of people in depressed areas are never really surprised by what Mark Jimenez is doing. Since 1998 when he first visited the Philippines after so many years in the US, he has been sharing whatever he has to the people.

He saw then the misery and squalor in squatters areas and depressed sections of barangays in Manila, so when he became congressman of the the sixth district, he intensified his feeding kitchens. He uses trucks to bring food to the hungry, for “when people were hungry all you can do is feed them.” There was no time to give them livelihood opportunities that would take years to materialize.

They knew Mark Jimenez as the person whose organization, the Hulog ng Langit Foundation, had visited the place and without publicity or photo opportunity worked behind the scene to help them. Even the most religious person would be at a lost for words to explain why bad things happen to good people. Maybe it was the will of God for whatever reason. Maybe it was an accident. Or maybe it was because of man’s indifference to nature. Whatever the reason, nobody from the town would ever forget that fateful day.
